Box Office Collection May 2026: Raja Shivaji Crosses ₹50 Cr, Ek Din Fails; Bhoot Bangla, Dhurandhar 2 Hold Steady

Mumbai, India — May 8, 2026

Indian box office trends showed mixed momentum on Thursday, with some films maintaining strong performance while others struggled to attract audiences ahead of the weekend.

Among the latest releases, Raja Shivaji emerged as a clear winner, crossing a significant milestone, while Ek Din saw its theatrical run weaken considerably.

‘Raja Shivaji’ Crosses ₹50 Crore Mark

The Marathi historical drama Raja Shivaji has delivered a solid performance at the box office.

According to trade estimates, the film collected approximately ₹4 crore on its seventh day, slightly below its ₹4.25 crore haul on day six. The film’s total domestic collection now stands at ₹52.66 crore.

Directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, the film also features prominent appearances from Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Vidya Balan. It has been released in both Marathi and Hindi, expanding its reach.

‘Ek Din’ Fails to Sustain Momentum

In contrast, Ek Din has struggled to gain traction at the box office.

The film earned just ₹1 lakh on its seventh day, bringing its total collection to ₹3.53 crore. Despite initial expectations, the film has remained in the lower revenue bracket throughout its run, signaling weak audience engagement.

‘Bhoot Bangla’ Maintains Steady Run

Bhoot Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, continues to show resilience even in its third week.

The film collected ₹1.75 crore on its 21st day, maintaining consistency with its previous day’s performance. Its total earnings have reached ₹150 crore, making it one of the stronger performers currently in theaters.

Industry experts expect the film’s collections to rise again over the weekend.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ Continues Historic Run

Dhurandhar 2 remains a box office juggernaut even after 50 days in theaters.

The film added ₹59 lakh on its 50th day, pushing its total collection to an impressive ₹1,140.67 crore. Its sustained performance highlights strong audience retention and long-term appeal.

Hollywood Films Hold Ground in India

Among international releases, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Michael continue to attract Indian audiences.

  • The Devil Wears Prada 2 collected ₹1.20 crore on its seventh day, taking its total to ₹18.25 crore.
  • Michael earned ₹1.50 crore on its 14th day, with a cumulative total of ₹44.25 crore.

Both films have managed to sustain viewership despite competition from domestic releases.

Box Office Snapshot

  • Top Performer: Raja Shivaji (₹52.66 Cr total)
  • Long Runner: Dhurandhar 2 (₹1,140.67 Cr total)
  • Steady Performer: Bhoot Bangla (₹150 Cr total)
  • Struggling Film: Ek Din (₹3.53 Cr total)

Outlook Ahead of Weekend

As the weekend approaches, industry analysts expect collections to improve for most films, particularly those already showing stable performance.

While Raja Shivaji is likely to maintain its upward trajectory, Bhoot Bangla could benefit from renewed audience interest. However, Ek Din may find it difficult to recover.
