Amit Shah on Saturday unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, outlining a series of welfare, governance, and security-focused promises.
Titled the “Sankalp Patra” (Pledge Document), the manifesto emphasizes economic support, women’s empowerment, job creation, and regulatory reforms, including the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months if the party comes to power.
Key Promises in BJP’s Bengal Manifesto
The BJP’s manifesto includes several major announcements targeting different sections of society:
- ₹3,000 monthly financial assistance for women and graduate students
- Implementation of the 7th Pay Commission within 45 days
- Rollout of Ayushman Bharat health scheme in West Bengal
- Creation of 10 million jobs and self-employment opportunities
- Annual financial aid of ₹9,000 for farmers
- Pension benefits for all government employees
Women-Centric Initiatives
A significant portion of the manifesto focuses on women’s welfare:
- Free bus travel for women
- ₹21,000 financial assistance for pregnant women
- ₹3,000 monthly direct benefit to women’s bank accounts
- 33% reservation for women in government jobs
- Establishment of women’s help desks in every police station
- Formation of two dedicated women battalions
UCC and Security Measures
Uniform Civil Code is among the most prominent commitments in the manifesto.
Amit Shah stated that:
- The BJP aims to implement UCC within six months of forming the government
- A zero-tolerance policy on illegal infiltration will be enforced
- Steps will be taken to secure state borders and curb illegal activities, including cattle smuggling
He also emphasized that land required by the Union Home Ministry would be provided within 45 days to strengthen border management.
Focus on Farmers and Rural Economy
The manifesto outlines targeted measures for agricultural communities:
- Improved infrastructure for paddy, potato, and mango farmers
- Annual direct financial support to farmers
- Policies aimed at boosting rural income and productivity
Vision for Development
Amit Shah said the manifesto aligns with the broader vision of a “Developed India”, as envisioned by Narendra Modi.
He described the document as a roadmap to:
- Address public concerns
- Strengthen governance
- Drive economic and social development in West Bengal

Currently serving as the principal opposition party in the state assembly, the BJP is positioning itself as a key challenger in the upcoming elections.
