Mumbai | February 12, 2026
The nationwide “Bharat Bandh” called on February 12 by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and allied organizations has impacted film production and cinema attendance across several Indian cities.
Industry sources report delays in shooting schedules and a noticeable drop in theater occupancy, particularly in Mumbai, Delhi, and parts of Punjab.
Film Shoots Affected in Mumbai
Key shooting hubs such as Goregaon Film City and Madh Island reported reduced activity since early morning.
Transportation disruptions affected the arrival of crew members and junior artists, leading to delays in television serial and film production schedules. Production units have either rescheduled scenes or operated with limited staff.
While no major cancellations have been officially confirmed, industry insiders say logistical challenges slowed operations across multiple sets.
Multiplex Footfall Drops 20–30%
Cinema halls across Mumbai, Delhi, and Punjab recorded lower attendance during morning and afternoon shows.
Multiplex occupancy reportedly fell by approximately 20–30%, as many residents chose to remain indoors due to transport disruptions and security concerns.
The decline comes at a sensitive time for distributors and exhibitors, as weekday collections remain critical for overall box office performance.
Concern Ahead of New Release
The disruption arrives just a day before the scheduled release of Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film O Romeo, set to hit theaters on February 13.
Distributors are closely monitoring the situation, expressing concern that any continued disruptions could affect opening-day collections.
However, trade analysts note that if normalcy resumes by Friday, weekend business may offset weekday losses.
Security Tightened in Film Hubs
Mumbai Police have increased security presence in areas including Andheri, Bandra, and Juhu — neighborhoods known for film studios and celebrity residences.
Authorities stated that the heightened security is precautionary and aimed at preventing any untoward incidents.
No major law-and-order issues have been officially reported in major film zones as of publication.
