INVC NEWS l New Delhi ; In a major step toward building a digital and paperless India, the Government of India has introduced a new Aadhaar Face ID app that eliminates the need to carry a physical Aadhaar card or provide photocopies for identification. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has developed this secure mobile application that uses facial recognition to verify identity for various government and private services.
Now, whether you are applying for a SIM card, visiting a hotel, or undergoing bank KYC, all you need is a face scan using your smartphone.

This new Aadhaar authentication app allows users to prove their identity by scanning their face. No OTP, fingerprints, or iris scans required. A live selfie taken via your front camera is instantly matched with the Aadhaar database for verification.

🧑💻 What IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Said
During the ‘Aadhaar Samvad’ event held on April 8, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Aadhaar face authentication app will soon be available to the general public.
“Just like UPI revolutionized payments, this app will simplify identity verification,” Vaishnaw said.
He also emphasized the need to update Aadhaar laws in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, saying UIDAI must take the lead in bringing privacy compliance.

🧪 Beta Testing in Progress
Currently, the app is in beta testing phase. Once the trials are complete, it will be released for wider public use. UIDAI aims to make it as simple and accessible as UPI-based services, ensuring the app reaches every citizen.
