Beijing, China — April 9, 2026
China has firmly denied allegations that it provided military assistance to Iran amid escalating tensions involving the United States and Israel, dismissing the claims as “false” and “misleading.”
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, Zhang Xiaogang, stated that reports suggesting Chinese involvement in supplying satellite intelligence or semiconductor equipment to Iran during the conflict are completely unfounded.
China Rejects Military Aid Allegations
Responding to international reports, Zhang said there is no factual basis to claims that Chinese companies provided military-related support to Iran.
He specifically denied allegations that Chinese entities shared satellite imagery of US military bases or supplied chip-making equipment to assist Iran’s defense capabilities.
“These reports are rumors and disinformation,” Zhang said, emphasizing that China has not engaged in any form of military assistance to Iran.
Response to US Accusations
China also pushed back against accusations from the United States, which had suggested that both China and Russia were aiding Iran during the conflict.
Officials in Beijing argued that certain countries are deliberately spreading misinformation to undermine China’s global standing.
China further stated that the international community is aware of “who is promoting conflict and who is advocating peace,” without directly naming any specific country.
China Positions Itself as Neutral Actor
China reiterated that it has maintained a balanced and neutral stance on the Iran issue, emphasizing its consistent support for diplomatic solutions and peace negotiations.
According to officials, Beijing has played a constructive role in encouraging dialogue and has not contributed to escalating tensions in the region.
Broader Geopolitical Context
The statement comes at a time of heightened global scrutiny over China’s geopolitical role, particularly amid tensions involving Donald Trump and ongoing trade and strategic disputes between Washington and Beijing.
Analysts note that China’s denial may be aimed at maintaining diplomatic balance while navigating pressure from US policies, including tariffs and strategic competition.
