Abbas Araghchi warning US - West Asia Crisis Escalates Amid Iran-US Tensions

Tehran / Washington — March 5, 2026

Tensions across West Asia continue to intensify as the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel enters a new phase. Iranian officials have issued strong warnings following reports of an alleged U.S. attack on an Iranian naval vessel.

At the same time, military operations across the region have expanded, with missile strikes and counterattacks reported in multiple locations.

Iran Issues Warning to the United States

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticized the alleged attack on an Iranian warship, describing it as a serious escalation.

In a post on social media platform X, Araghchi said the United States had committed a “serious crime” by targeting the Iranian vessel in international waters roughly 2,000 miles from Iran’s coastline.

He claimed that the ship, identified as “Dena,” was carrying approximately 130 sailors and had been attacked without warning.

“Remember my words: the United States will deeply regret this action,” Araghchi wrote in his statement.

Iran Targets Kurdish Forces in Iraq

Separately, Iran reported launching missile strikes targeting the headquarters of Kurdish groups in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, Iranian forces fired three missiles at locations linked to groups accused by Tehran of opposing the Islamic Republic.

The strikes reportedly targeted sites in Iraqi Kurdistan, though further details on casualties or damage were not immediately confirmed.

U.S. Continues Strikes on Missile Launch Systems

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said operations aimed at disrupting Iran’s missile capabilities remain ongoing.

According to a statement released by the command, U.S. forces are attempting to identify and destroy mobile missile launchers used by Iranian forces.

The statement said military units were detecting and targeting threats with what it described as “lethal precision.”

CENTCOM also released a video clip showing a series of military strikes that it said had destroyed several mobile missile launch systems.

Kuwait Denies Explosion Near Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port

Kuwait’s Interior Ministry denied reports circulating in some media outlets and social media claiming a large explosion and oil spill near Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port.

Officials said the reported incident had not occurred within Kuwaiti territorial waters but approximately 60 kilometers away from the port.

The statement followed claims from a British maritime security agency suggesting that the incident occurred near the Kuwaiti port.

India Rejects Claims About Port Use

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs dismissed claims suggesting that U.S. forces were using Indian ports to launch attacks on Iran.

The ministry described comments made by a former U.S. military officer as “baseless and fabricated.”

Officials reiterated that the claims circulating on social media did not reflect reality and urged caution against misinformation.

Regional Tensions Remain High

With military activity reported across several parts of the region, including Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, diplomatic efforts are underway to reduce tensions.

Several Gulf nations have called for emergency discussions aimed at restoring stability, though the situation on the ground remains highly volatile.

International observers continue to monitor developments as the conflict evolves.
