Punjabi playback singer B Praak has allegedly received a ₹10 crore extortion threat from the Lawrence gang. The warning was conveyed through threatening phone calls and an audio message sent to fellow Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who has now filed an official police complaint with the Mohali SSP.
Threatening Calls and Ransom Demand
According to the complaint, Dilnoor received the first two missed calls on January 5 from an international number. He ignored both calls, considering them suspicious.
On January 6, another foreign number contacted him. When he answered, the caller introduced himself as Arju Bishnoi and demanded that Dilnoor convey a message to his friend B Praak.
The caller allegedly threatened:
“Tell B Praak to pay ₹10 crore within a week, or we will destroy him.”
Soon after disconnecting, Dilnoor received a voice message, repeating the ransom demand and warning of “serious consequences” if the payment was not made within seven days.
Foreign-Origin Calls Deepen Suspicion
The audio clip, sent via an international number, contained explicit threats of violence. Dilnoor informed police that the tone, content and nature of the call seemed highly dangerous and targeted.
This is not the first time prominent singers have been targeted by gangs linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi network, raising security concerns in the Punjabi music industry.
Police Launch Investigation
Following the complaint, Mohali SSP has directed an urgent investigation. Police are now:
-
Tracing the source of the foreign numbers
-
Verifying whether the calls were routed using VoIP services
-
Identifying the individual claiming to be Arju Bishnoi
-
Evaluating any potential threat to B Praak and his family
Authorities have treated the case with high priority due to the involvement of a known gang and the nature of the threats.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional security measures for the artists may be considered if required.
