Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has revealed that he once rejected a ₹40 crore endorsement offer for a tobacco product, choosing personal values and family principles over financial gain.
At 64, the actor continues to draw attention for his disciplined lifestyle and fitness. Known for describing himself as a family-oriented man with strong principles, Shetty said he could not bring himself to promote tobacco or pan masala products, regardless of the money involved.
‘I Cannot Compromise on My Ideals’
In a recent conversation with PeepingMoon, Suniel Shetty explained the reason behind his decision. He said the offer was financially tempting but conflicted with his beliefs and the image he wanted to set for his children, Ahan Shetty and Athiya Shetty.
“I was offered ₹40 crore to endorse a tobacco product,” Shetty said. “I looked at them and asked if they really thought I would fall for money. I won’t do anything that damages the image of my children. No amount of money can make me compromise on my ideals.”
He added that such offers no longer come his way, as people are now aware of his firm stance against promoting harmful products.
Upcoming Film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’
On the professional front, Suniel Shetty will next be seen in the multi-starrer comedy ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, alongside Akshay Kumar and a large ensemble cast. Prior to this, he appeared in the web series ‘Hunter’, marking his steady return to acting.
Opening Up About His Long Break
The actor also spoke candidly about stepping away from films following his father’s illness and passing in 2017. Shetty shared that his father had been unwell since 2014, and caring for him took precedence over work.
He admitted that returning to the industry after a six-to-seven-year break was challenging. “When you step away for that long, you start doubting yourself. Things change, the industry evolves, and rebuilding confidence takes time,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Shetty said the break helped him reassess his priorities and return stronger, both mentally and professionally.
