Voter List Revision After SIR: Key Forms and Deadlines Explained

New Delhi, India | December 28, 2025

Voters whose names were removed from the electoral roll following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process need not worry, election officials have said. The issue can be resolved by submitting Form 6, which is used to apply for inclusion in the voter list.

The SIR process has now concluded, and across nine assembly constituencies, nearly 8.32 lakh voters failed to submit the required forms. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have placed these voters in the deletion list, categorizing them as deceased, absent, relocated, or duplicate entries.

According to officials, over three lakh voters were marked as “absent” during verification. Many of these individuals did not submit forms despite being eligible, leading to their names being temporarily removed from the draft rolls.

Draft Voter List to Be Published on December 30

Sub-Divisional Election Officer Yamunadhar Chauhan said the draft voter list will be published on December 30. Voters whose names do not appear in the list must submit Form 6 to restore their voting rights. Applications through Form 6 will be accepted from December 31 to January 30.

For voters seeking corrections such as address changes or name modifications, Form 8 must be submitted. Those wishing to remove a name from the list can apply using Form 7.

Notice to 3.24 Lakh Voters for Record Mismatch

Election officials also revealed that 3.24 lakh voters could not be mapped with the 2003 voter list, as their records did not match. Notices will be issued to these voters between December 31 and February 21.

To complete verification, affected voters must submit any one of the 11 documents prescribed by the Election Commission as proof along with the notice copy. Only after verification will their names be linked to the 2003 electoral database.

Final Voter List in February

All claims, objections, and verification processes will be completed by February 25, following which the final voter list for the nine assembly constituencies will be published on February 28.
