Syria Faces Post-War Funding Crisis as WHO Warns of Collapsing Health Services

Damascus — The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Syria’s essential health services are on the brink of collapse as international aid and post-war funding sharply decline, threatening to unravel fragile peace efforts built over the past decade.

Health officials say hospitals and clinics across several provinces are facing severe shortages of medicines, medical staff, and power supply, leaving millions vulnerable to preventable diseases. The funding gap, coupled with rising humanitarian needs, risks reversing years of recovery in war-torn communities.

WHO representatives have urged donor nations to renew commitments to Syria’s reconstruction and healthcare infrastructure, emphasizing that neglect could destabilize the region once again.

International observers note that donor fatigue, global conflicts, and shifting geopolitical priorities have diverted attention away from Syria’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.
