Polish Army and Prime Minister’s Response
The Polish military stated that air defense and reconnaissance systems were placed on high alert. A statement clarified that these measures were taken “for the purpose of prevention.”
Prime Minister Donald Tusk also posted on Twitter, writing that preventive actions had been initiated due to drone activity near the Ukrainian border.
Air Traffic Suspended at Lublin Airport
Civilian flights at Lublin airport in eastern Poland were suspended because of military operations. Spokesman Piotr Janowski confirmed that airspace restrictions would remain in effect until 6 p.m. local time but did not provide a longer-term outlook.
Russia’s Response
Russia has denied intentionally targeting Poland, with Belarus suggesting that drones strayed off course due to electronic jamming. However, European leaders insist these drone incursions were deliberate provocations by Moscow.
The incident has renewed concerns across NATO that the war, now in its third year, could spill beyond Ukraine’s borders.
