Ottawa — : The Donald Trump stunned global leaders after walking out of the G7 Summit in Canada earlier than scheduled. While French President Emmanuel Macron claimed Trump was working on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Trump quickly dismissed the speculation, saying he had “far more important matters” to deal with—completely unrelated to the Middle East conflict.
Trump Fires Back at Macron’s Ceasefire Claim
The controversy erupted after Macron told reporters that Trump aimed to broker peace between Israel and Iran. According to Macron, there had even been a proposal for direct talks involving Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Trump’s West Asia envoy Steve Witkoff. Macron said the goal was to stop the fighting and begin broader negotiations, especially concerning nuclear issues.
However, Trump struck down the entire narrative. Taking to Truth Social, he wrote,
“Publicity-hungry Macron wrongly claimed I’m leaving the G7 to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. FALSE! He has no idea why I’m heading back to DC, but it has nothing to do with a ceasefire. It’s something much bigger and far more urgent. Macron is always wrong—watch and see!”
Without disclosing specific details, Trump announced he had summoned an emergency meeting with the National Security Council.
G7 Summit Disrupted as Trump Leaves Unexpectedly
The sudden exit caused a stir among G7 members. Trump had just arrived in Canada to attend high-level discussions on economic policies and geopolitical concerns. His early departure left multiple talks unfinished, including sessions related to international energy security and cyber threats.
Sources from Washington suggest Trump’s exit could be related to national security developments back home, although no official statement has clarified the real reason.
