Moscow — : Russia has launched one of its biggest attacks on Ukraine, firing over 400 drones and 40 missiles in a single night, leaving at least six people dead and 80 injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described it as one of the worst strikes since the war began.
Areas like Kiev, Lviv, Lutsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv were heavily targeted. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service confirmed the deaths of three firefighters in Kiev, two civilians in Lutsk, and one person in Chernihiv. Explosions were heard across nearly nine regions, throwing the country into chaos overnight.
This massive Russian offensive came just days after Ukraine’s Operation Spider Web, where Ukraine targeted and damaged nearly one-third of Russia’s cruise missile launch systems. According to Moscow, these new missile strikes are a direct retaliation for what they called Kiev’s “terrorist acts.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a phone call with US President Donald Trump, had already warned that Moscow would answer Ukraine’s growing counterattacks. Now, the scale of Russia’s strike shows just how intense the war has become.
The overnight blitz — involving hundreds of drones and dozens of cruise missiles — marks a dangerous turn in the conflict, with both sides escalating attacks in response to each other’s strategic operations. Search engines are likely to flag this as a high-alert geopolitical event with massive regional impact.
