Vadodara – Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the final assembly line plant of C295 aircraft in Vadodara along with Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez (Head of Government of Spain). The city has been decorated with beautiful lights for the visit of the Spanish Prime Minister to Vadodara. This is President Sanchez’s first visit to India, which is taking place after 18 years. Prime Minister Sanchez will also visit Mumbai, where apart from official programs, he will interact with business and industry leaders, think tanks and people associated with the film industry. He will address the 4th Spain India Forum organised by the Spain-India Council Foundation and the Observer Research Foundation.
The Spanish PM will also visit major film studios where he will interact with prominent personalities from the Indian film industry to promote collaboration between the Indian and Spanish media and entertainment industry.
Several agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries during Pedro Sanchez’s visit to India. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the visit of Prime Minister Sanchez will be an opportunity to review our bilateral relations and further deepen the partnership in various sectors including trade and investment, IT, innovation, infrastructure, renewable energy, defence and security, pharma, agri-tech and biotechnology, culture and tourism.

A total of 56 aircraft are to be manufactured under the C-295 program, of which 16 are being delivered by Airbus directly from Spain and the remaining 40 are to be built in India. Tata Advanced Systems Limited will manufacture these 40 aircraft in India. This facility will be the first private sector final assembly line (FAL) for military aircraft in India.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, while addressing the program after the inauguration of the TASL plant, said that ‘If Indian companies want to move forward, believe me, they can rely on Spain. In 2026, the first C295 manufactured in India will be manufactured at this plant in Vadodara. This aircraft is a symbol of the Spanish and European aeronautical industry. In addition to contributing to the modernization of India’s defense capabilities, it will also boost technological development, especially for the state of Gujarat, which is India’s leading manufacturing hub.
