Geneva: The United States expresses its shock and condemnation regarding the recent militant attack that took place near the West Bank town of Eli on June 21st. The attack resulted in the loss of four lives and caused injuries to numerous others. As a close ally of Israel, the United States strongly condemns any act of violence and terrorism targeting innocent civilians.

The U.S. government stands firmly with Israel in its pursuit of security and peace. The attack serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions and dangers faced by both Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank. The United States recognizes the urgent need for decisive action to halt the escalating violence and prevent further loss of life.

The statements made by UN Middle East Envoy Tor Vennesland regarding the increasing violence in the West Bank and the concerns about the actions of certain settlers are also taken seriously by the United States. The U.S. government encourages all parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further exacerbate the already volatile situation.

In line with the Defense Council’s advice, the United States supports efforts to reduce tensions and restore lasting peace in the region. President Joe Biden’s administration acknowledges the concerns raised by Envoy Vennesland and remains committed to working towards a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The United States will continue to engage with all relevant parties and work alongside the international community to address the underlying issues and promote dialogue, de-escalation, and the pursuit of a two-state solution that ensures the security and self-determination of both Israelis and Palestinians.
