Zomato raises platform fee by 19.2%, increasing cost per order for users across India.

New Delhi, India – March 20, 2026

Zomato has increased its platform fee by 19.2%, raising the charge from ₹12.50 to ₹14.90 per order, according to updated billing details on the company’s app.

The latest revision means customers will now pay more on every food delivery order, adding to the overall cost of online food services.

Fee Hike Linked to Rising Operational Costs

The increase of ₹2.40 per order comes at a time when rising LPG and crude oil prices have pushed up costs for restaurants and delivery partners. Food delivery platforms are adjusting pricing structures to manage higher operational expenses.

The revised platform fee is applied on a pre-GST basis, making the effective cost slightly higher after taxes.

Gradual Increase in Platform Charges

This is not the first time Zomato has revised its platform fee. The company had previously adjusted charges in September 2025, while during the festive season in February, the fee was raised from ₹6 to ₹10 per order.

Zomato initially introduced a ₹2 platform fee in August 2023, which has been gradually increased over time.

Meanwhile, competitor Swiggy currently charges around ₹14.99 per order (including taxes), keeping competition tight between the two platforms.

Focus on Profitability and Margins

The move comes as food delivery companies focus on improving unit economics and margins amid rising costs across the supply chain.

Stock and Financial Performance

Shares of Eternal Limited (formerly Zomato) closed at ₹233 on Friday, marking a 1.86% gain from the previous close and about 7.5% growth over the past week. However, the stock has declined nearly 13% over the past month.

On the financial front, the company reported a 72.88% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹102 crore for the December quarter, compared to ₹59 crore in the same period last year.

Revenue from operations surged more than threefold to ₹16,315 crore, up from ₹5,405 crore a year ago. Zomato rebranded itself as Eternal Limited in March 2025, although expenses have also risen significantly during this period.
