Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has achieved a landmark pre-release business of approximately ₹600 crore in non-theatrical rights, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema even before its theatrical debut.

The deal reportedly encompasses digital streaming, satellite, and music rights. Sources indicate intense competition among OTT platforms, fueled by Yash’s global appeal post the KGF franchise, with Netflix emerging as a key player for digital streaming rights.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film carries an estimated budget of ₹400-500 crore. It features international locations including London and Sri Lanka, promising high production values and extensive VFX work.

Nayanthara plays Yash’s sister in the film. Reports also suggest the involvement of Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi, potentially strengthening appeal in the Hindi market.

Production faced controversy recently over allegations of illegal tree felling during shooting in Bengaluru, prompting attention from the forest department.

Originally slated for April 10, 2025, the release has been postponed to 2026 to accommodate ongoing shooting schedules and post-production requirements.
