The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari has released the first issue of the Journal of Governance at a function here today. The Journal of Governance is the first journal which is devoted to public governance. Its publication has been started by a civil society called IC Centre for Governance. The Centre has been functioning for the last six years under the co-chairmanship of Justice M N Venkatachalaiah, former Chief Justice of India and Dr. Abid Hussain, former Ambassador to United States.
The Centre has in the past, debated a number of vital issues like electoral reforms, judicial reforms, Right to Information and transparency and accountability in governance. The Centre also provides regular training programmes in Ethics in Governance to senior civil servants of the Central and State Governments.
With a view to inviting participation from policy makers, experts and academics, social thinkers and independent observers etc., the Centre has decided to bring out The Journal of Governance. The members of the Editorial Board are former bureaucrats and media professionals. The journal is being edited by Shri Prabhat Kumar, former Cabinet Secretary and former Governor of Jharkhand.
