Friday saw the release of one major Bollywood sequel and a Hollywood franchise installment, delivering contrasting box office results.

While The Kerala Story 2 registered a moderate opening, Scream 7 recorded a relatively slow start in Indian theaters. Meanwhile, holdover releases Assi and O Romeo continued their theatrical runs.

‘The Kerala Story 2’ Opening Day Collection

The Kerala Story 2 released in cinemas after facing considerable public debate. On its opening day, the film collected ₹3.50 crore at the domestic box office.

The first installment, The Kerala Story, had opened stronger with ₹8.03 crore on Day 1 in 2023. The sequel, directed by Kamakshya Narayan, has not matched the original’s debut figures but delivered a steady start.

‘Scream 7’ Opens Soft in India

Scream 7, directed by Kevin Williamson, marked the seventh installment in the long-running horror franchise.

Despite global anticipation, the film earned ₹40 lakh on its opening day in India, reflecting limited audience turnout compared to domestic releases.

The cast includes Neve Campbell, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding.

‘Assi’ Continues Its Run

Assi, starring Taapsee Pannu and directed by Anubhav Sinha, collected ₹46 lakh on Friday.

The courtroom drama has now reached a total of ₹7.41 crore at the box office. The film addresses serious social themes and has shown modest but steady numbers.

‘O Romeo’ Maintains Momentum

O Romeo, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, added ₹1.15 crore on Friday.

After 16 days in theaters, the romantic action drama has amassed ₹62.7 crore in total collections. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film remains the strongest performer among current releases.
