Strong Saturday Boost for ‘The Kerala Story 2’
The Indian box office saw varied performances this weekend as “The Kerala Story 2,” “O Romeo,” and “Assi” continued their theatrical run. Among the three films, “The Kerala Story 2” recorded the strongest growth on Saturday, showing renewed momentum after a modest Friday.
According to industry tracking platform Sacnilk, “The Kerala Story 2” collected approximately $0.36 million (₹2.96 crore) on Saturday, a notable increase from ₹1.44 crore on Friday. The jump suggests improved weekend footfall in theaters.
The film’s total domestic collection has now reached about ₹44.76 crore, though it has yet to cross the ₹50-crore milestone at the Indian box office.
‘Assi’ Remains at the Bottom of the Race
Meanwhile, the film “Assi” continues to struggle commercially despite being close to completing a month in theaters.
On its 22nd day of release, the movie collected around ₹8 lakh, according to Sacnilk data. The film’s performance has slowed significantly in recent days, with daily earnings declining sharply.
So far, “Assi” has recorded a total domestic collection of approximately ₹10.83 crore, placing it behind the other films currently competing at the box office.
‘O Romeo’ Maintains a Stable Run
In contrast, “O Romeo” has managed to maintain a steady presence at the box office even after nearly a month since its release.
The romantic drama earned around ₹29 lakh on Saturday, improving from ₹15 lakh on Friday. While the film continues to attract a modest audience, it has not yet approached the ₹100-crore benchmark.
At present, the film’s total box office collection stands at about ₹71.59 crore.
Upcoming Competition From ‘Dhurandhar 2’
The coming week could bring new challenges for these films. The highly anticipated “Dhurandhar 2” is scheduled to hit theaters next Friday.
The film has already generated significant buzz among audiences following the release of its trailer. Industry observers believe its arrival could intensify competition at the box office, potentially affecting the ongoing runs of currently released titles.
