The Government is determined to give full autonomy to cooperatives : Arun Yadav

Minister of State for Agriculture, Shri Arun Yadav, today called upon cooperatives to maintain their unique identify so as to withstand the challenges posed by multi-national companies. For this, they must run their affairs in a professional manner and make best use of their strengths. Cooperative institutions should also focus on improving their human resource, the Minister said.

Addressing the North Zone Cooperative Conference here today, Shri Yadav said that the Government is determined to give full autonomy to cooperatives through amendment of the Constitution. The Government has already accepted the recommendations of the Vidyanathan Committee for strengthening the cooperative sector. The Minister informed that the Multi-State Cooperatives (Amendment) Bill 2010 and a Constitutional Amendment Bill have been placed in the Lok Sabha and expressed the hope that passage of these Bills will go a long way in strengthening the cooperative sector.

The Conference was attended by Delhi Cooperative Minister, Shri Haroon Yusuf, Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Minister, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Chairman (NAFED) Dr. Bijender Singh and a large number of representatives from the cooperative sector.
