Mumbai — : The Nashik is set to host the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027, one of Hinduism’s most revered and large-scale religious events, as announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The planning session, held in Trimbakeshwar, included participation from leading saints, Mahants of 13 Akharas, and top government officials, confirming key dates, major preparations, and infrastructure commitments ahead of the massive congregation.
Key Dates of Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 Finalized
Three major royal bathing (Shahi Snan) dates have been officially declared:
August 2, 2027 – First royal bath on Somvati Amavasya
August 31, 2027 – Second royal bath
September 11, 2027 – Third royal bath on Ekadashi
The Kumbh Mela will commence formally on July 24, 2027, with the flag hoisting of the Akharas, marking the sacred start of the event. In total, the Nashik Kumbh 2027 will witness three royal baths and 45 general Kumbh bathing days, hosted at the holy locations of Trimbakeshwar and Panchvati.
CM Fadnavis Outlines Vision for a Transformational Kumbh
Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressing the assembly, emphasized that Simhastha Kumbh 2027 would be the most organized, spiritually rich, and tech-integrated Kumbh ever witnessed in Nashik. In a public statement on social platform X, he confirmed that Amrit Snan and festival dates have been finalized and preparations have been launched with a massive infrastructure commitment of ₹4000 crore. An additional ₹2000 crore worth of projects are already in the pipeline, aiming to enhance connectivity, safety, sanitation, and religious infrastructure.
Rs 6000 Crore Investment to Power Mega Infrastructure Push
To support the massive inflow of devotees, saints, and spiritual leaders, the Maharashtra government will deploy a ₹6000 crore infrastructure plan, which includes:
Road and bridge development
Sanitation and water facilities
Digital crowd management systems
Smart surveillance infrastructure
Public convenience centers
Tendering has already begun for the first phase of works worth ₹4000 crore, with a focus on permanent structures to benefit Nashik beyond the Kumbh itself.
Godavari River Conservation and Tapovan Restoration
In a symbolic and ecological move, the government has prioritized the uninterrupted purity of the Godavari River, which plays a central role in the Kumbh rituals. CM Fadnavis assured that:
Special cleaning efforts for the river are underway
Encroachments in Tapovan will be cleared
Sustainable flow of the river will be maintained through regulated infrastructure and environmental monitoring
These steps aim to ensure a spiritually uplifting and environmentally conscious Kumbh experience for millions.
Akharas, Saints, and Spiritual Traditions Get Centerstage
Thirteen Akharas will participate in the Simhastha Kumbh 2027. Special land will be purchased to accommodate saints and Mahants, and steps will be taken to ensure they have all necessary facilities during the event. Devotees will get the rare opportunity to seek blessings from Jagatguru Shankaracharya and other prominent religious leaders during the festivities. Traditional rituals will be conducted at both Panchvati and Trimbakeshwar, preserving the sanctity of the occasion.

The meeting witnessed a confluence of spiritual and administrative leadership. Present alongside CM Devendra Fadnavis were:

The city’s dual locations—Panchvati and Trimbakeshwar—will serve as primary venues, offering the rich blend of Vedic heritage and modern-day amenities.
