Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. announces placement of feeder vessels between Mundra and JNP to assist trade during the Crane replacement at JNPT

As you are aware the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT) is in the process of Commissioning three new Rail Mounted Quay gantry Cranes (RMQC) at their Main Container Berth. In view of same the port has notified that the terminal will not be in a position to accommodate ships of over 260 mts length during the installation period and also one of the berths will be decommissioned. This process is likely to take about 6 to 7 weeks.

Trade is hereby adviced that some of the vessels of the ISE and IMED Service whose length is more than 260 mts will be ommiting JNPT and will proceed directly to Mundra to discharge its JNPT cargo at Mundra.  This will be full and final delivery and is in accordance with our applicable Bill of Lading terms and conditions.

To ensure that uninterupted service is provided to our valued customers at least inconveniences, SCI is going to withdraw vessels from our other service and place them as feeder vessels to ply between Mundra and JNPT. Consignees desirous of taking their cargo at JNPT may do so by payment of relevant transhippement and feeder costs which will be charged at actuals.

 

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by this unexpected situation which is beyond the control of SCI.
