Mumbai – : Ather Energy, one of the leading electric vehicle brands in India, has introduced the Ather 450S, a new addition to their 450 series of electric scooters. With an attractive starting price of Rs 129,999 (exclusive of state subsidy), the Ather 450S aims to provide performance-centric electric mobility to a wider audience of commuters across the country. This latest offering from Ather Energy is equipped with a 3 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of 115 km under Indian Driving Conditions (IDC) and a top speed of 90 km/h. The company specifically targets those commuters who are currently opting for 125-cc performance ICE scooters but are eager to transition to electric scooters for a more sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation.
In light of the recent revision to the FAME II subsidy, effective from June 1, 2023, Ather Energy has adjusted the prices of its scooters. The FAME II subsidy has played a significant role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India, and the revision entails a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kWh with a maximum cap of 15% of the ex-factory price. As a result, the flagship Ather 450X will now be available at Rs 145,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore), and the 450X with Pro Pack will be priced at Rs 165,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore).
Customers interested in purchasing the new Ather 450S can start booking their scooters from July onwards. Ather Experience Centres located throughout the country will be accepting these bookings, and customers can also express their interest on Ather’s official website.
Tarun Mehta, the Co-Founder & CEO of Ather Energy, expressed his excitement about the launch of the 450S and its potential to attract a broader range of buyers. Positioned as an entry-level variant, the 450S offers the quality and assurance that Ather scooters are renowned for. Additionally, it introduces groundbreaking technological features in the performance scooter segment, raising the standards in terms of riding pleasure and safety while still delivering impressive performance.
Ravneet S. Phokela, the Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, acknowledged the subsidy reduction resulting from the FAME II revision, which amounts to approximately INR 32,000. Despite this price impact, Ather Energy is taking significant steps to support their customers and expedite the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. Starting from today, the highly popular 450X with Pro Pack will be available at INR 165,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore), representing only a marginal increase compared to the prices in March 2023.
In conclusion, Ather Energy’s launch of the Ather 450S electric scooter marks a significant step forward in the realm of electric mobility in India. With its competitive pricing, impressive range, and performance-oriented design, the Ather 450S is poised to capture the attention of consumers who seek a reliable and sustainable mode of transportation. Ather Energy’s commitment to absorbing the subsidy reduction showcases their dedication to advancing the adoption of electric vehicles and creating a greener future for India.
