New Delhi — : From July 6, 2025, the spiritual season of Chaturmas begins—a sacred four-month period when Lord Vishnu goes into divine sleep, and Lord Shiva takes over the cosmic operation. According to Vedic texts and Upanishads, Shiva appears in his Rudra form, the fierce energy responsible for the destruction of evil and restoration of balance in the universe.
Rudra, as explained in Nirukt and Nighantu, literally means “the one who destroys the wicked.” As per ancient Hindu beliefs, when Lord Vishnu enters yogic sleep on Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Shiva—through his Rudra avatar—becomes the guardian and regulator of the universe. This marks a spiritually inactive time for deities, yet a period of intense transformation for seekers.
For the first time in 2025, rare cosmic alignments like Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Amrit Siddhi Yoga during Chaturmas will amplify spiritual energies. Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, and Moon will form a powerful Chaturgrahi Yoga in Gemini, intensifying the effects of prayers to Vishnu, Lakshmi, Shiva, and Parvati.
Vedic scriptures describe that when Lord Brahma began creation, he first worshipped Shiva. In return, Shiva promised that whenever chaos arises in creation, he would incarnate as Rudra to restore balance. Eleven Rudras are said to have emerged from this promise—each a spark of Shiva’s destructive yet protective essence.
According to yogic science, Rudra also lives within us. The Rudra Granthi, located near the Ajna Chakra, is one of three subtle knots—along with Brahma Granthi and Vishnu Granthi—that block our inner energy flow. Opening the Rudra knot through spiritual practices like meditation and yogic kriyas helps one achieve higher consciousness and deep inner wisdom.
Brahma Granthi connects to basic physical needs like food and shelter; Vishnu Granthi governs emotions and empathy; Rudra Granthi relates to spiritual insight, intuition, and enlightenment. Activating these knots isn’t just spiritual—it transforms life itself.
Worship during Chaturmas focuses on Vishnu, Lakshmi, Shiva, and Parvati. On Devshayani Ekadashi, devotees offer betel leaves and areca nut to Vishnu, followed by this ancient Sanskrit mantra:
“Supté tvayi Jagannatha jagat suptam bhavedidam, Vibuddhé tvayi buddhanch jagat sarvam characharam.”
(Meaning: “When You sleep, O Jagannatha, the whole world sleeps; and when You awaken, all beings—moving and unmoving—come to life.”)
With Lord Shiva in command for the next four months, the energies of creation, preservation, and destruction align within Rudra’s fierce compassion. From July to November, the universe flows under the meditative, storm-like watch of Mahadev.
