Bomb Threat to Reserve Bank of India: Russian Email Sent to Governor Malhotra, Mumbai Police Investigating

The Reserve Bank of India received a threatening email on Friday. It threatened to bomb the Mumbai office of RBI. The threatening email came on the official email ID of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The threat was given in Russian language. On receiving information about the threatening email, Mumbai Police has registered a case against the sender under the relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (IPC).

This threatening mail has come a few days after the new RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra took charge as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank. He has replaced Shaktikanta Das, who held the responsibility of this post for six years. Malhotra, an IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, was selected by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In fact, a threatening email came on the official website of RBI. The email was sent in Russian language. It threatened to bomb the bank. According to Mumbai Police Zone 1 DCP, a case has been registered against unknown accused in Mata Ramabai Marg (MRA Marg) Police Station. Investigation of the case is going on.

Earlier, six schools in Delhi received a bomb threat mail on Friday morning. After this, the investigating agencies searched the school premises. However, nothing has been found anywhere so far. Earlier on December 9, at least 44 schools in Delhi received threatening emails. After a thorough investigation, the police called those threats a rumor.

An official of Delhi Fire Service said that we got a call from Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar at 4:21 am, Cambridge School in Shri Niwas Puri at 6:23 am and DPS Amar Colony in East of Kailash at 6:35 am. The fire department, police and bomb disposal team have reached the schools with dog squads and are investigating. The school administration has sent a message to the parents asking them not to send their children to school.
