Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially announced that his upcoming film ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas in the lead role, will now release in theaters on March 5, 2027. The movie was earlier expected to arrive in 2026, but according to the makers, the scale of production and the strategic advantage of major festival dates—including Maha Shivaratri and Eid—prompted the shift.
First Poster Sparks ‘Animal’ Comparisons
The first official poster of ‘Spirit’ was unveiled on January 1, 2026, as a New Year surprise. It features Prabhas in a rugged, wounded, and intense avatar—sporting long hair, a thick beard, and a bruised, shirtless frame with bandages and gashes across his back.
Soon after its release, social media users began comparing Prabhas’ look to Ranbir Kapoor’s appearance in Vanga’s previous blockbuster ‘Animal’. Some fans even labeled it “Animal 2.0” or “cut-and-copy,” drawing parallels between the styling and mood of both characters.
Cast & Crew
‘Spirit’ features a strong ensemble cast:
Prabhas as a powerful police officer
Triptii Dimri in a key role (featured lighting Prabhas’ cigarette in the poster)
Vivek Oberoi
Prakash Raj
Kanchana
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film promises high-voltage action. According to the director, ‘Spirit’ will showcase action that is “10 times more intense and ferocious than Animal.”
Rumored Cameo Sparks Buzz
Industry chatter suggests that Ranbir Kapoor may appear in a cameo reprising his role from ‘Animal’, potentially hinting at the beginning of a “Vanga Cinematic Universe.”
However, the makers have not issued any official confirmation regarding this speculation.

‘Spirit’ is designed as a massive global release. It will premiere in eight languages, including:
Hindi

The multi-language rollout reflects the film’s ambitious scale and Prabhas’ expanding global fan base.
