Hyderabad, India — January 11, 2026
Tollywood superstar Prabhas has officially announced his next major project, titled Aarambh, a high-budget period drama blending horror and thriller elements, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi.
The announcement, accompanied by the release of the film’s first-look poster, quickly went viral on social media. The poster features Prabhas in a grave and commanding avatar as a British-era Indian soldier.
Set against the backdrop of the 1940s during World War II, Aarambh is described as a historical action drama that incorporates horror, thriller, romance, and patriotic themes. Reports highlight its grand sets and vintage aesthetic, drawing comparisons to Raghavapudi’s acclaimed film Sita Ramam.
The cast includes social media influencer and dancer Imanvi, who makes her acting debut as the female lead opposite Prabhas. Veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Jaya Prada join in key roles, enhancing the film’s pan-India appeal.
In contrast to Prabhas’ colorful and fun character in the upcoming horror-comedy The Raja Saab, Aarambh presents him in a serious military role. Shooting has already begun in Hyderabad on massive sets recreating 1940s Madras (now Chennai) and colonial-era India, constructed within an aluminum factory premises. The film’s music is being composed by Vishal Chandrashekhar.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Aarambh carries a reported budget exceeding ₹300 crore, positioning it among Prabhas’ most expensive projects to date. It is slated for release in late 2026 or early 2027.
Prabhas currently has Salaar 2 and Spirit lined up in his upcoming slate.
