The Officers and staff of Principle Controller of Defence Account (Western Command) celebrated 63rd Defence Accounts Department’s (DAD) raising day with great zeal and enthusiasm at ‘Meghdoot’ , a multipurpose auditorium of their office at Chandigarh. The occasion was graced by His Excellency Governor of Punjab & Administrator UT, Shri Shivraj V Patil. Senior officers and various dignitaries from HQWC and the Chandigarh administration and other central Government offices were also present. The inauguration of the DAD day was by the lightening of lamp by the Chief Guest Shri Shivraj V Patil followed by a welcome address by Sh. UpendraSah, IDAS, PCDA and a spellbound performance of Sufi Kathak fusion by Ms. Deepanvita and her troupe, co-ordinated by North Zone Cultural Directorate. The awards and mementoes for various items were also presented by the Chief Guest on the occasion by the Chief Guest. During the welcome address Sh. UpendraSah, IDAS, PCDA, briefed the chief guest and the august gathering about the functioning, various achievements and e-initiatives made by the PCDA (WC) Chandigarh during recent years. A brief demonstration on Suvigya, a web based system for Defence pensioners about their entitlements, was also made. He informed that this year “RakshaMantri Award for Excellence” has been awarded toof PCDA (WC) Chandigarh for improving quality of internal audit and streamlining the ECHS (Employee Contributory Health Scheme) for the Defence Pensioners for better value of money for the beneficiaries. It is a matter of great pleasure and honor. In his speech, Sh. Shivraj V. Patil, H E Governor Punjab & administrator UT, Chandigarh extended his good wishes on the occasion for the DAD and PCDA (WC) Chandigarh and expressed the importance of the PCDA (WC) in relation of internal audit, financial advice and payment work in respect of entire jurisdiction of HQ, Western Command. He had congratulated the officers of the team who have recognized the officials for excellence and gave away the awards to them. He also congratulated and awarded the children of PCDA employees for excelling in studies. Prominent dignitaries who was present on the occasion included, Shri Anil Kumar , Home Secretary , Shri Naunihal Singh , SSP, UT, Mrs. Bulbul Ghosh , CGDA (Retd), Shri M P Singh , IAS , Principal Secretary to the Governor, Shri D S Sarao , Director North Zone Cultural Centre , Maj Gen R S Rathore , Mrs. H K Pannu FADS(Retd).
