Video streaming YouTube has also joined the internet platforms taking measures to prevent tampering of online content through Artificial Intelligence (AI). Earlier, its parent company Google and Meta have done such an exercise. The platform has introduced a new tool that now requires creators to tell users whether their content has been created with the help of synthetic media or generative AI.

YouTube has said in a blogpost that we are going to bring a new tool in Creator Studio, under which it will now be necessary for creators to tell the viewers that the content they are posting has been created with the help of synthetic media or AI.

It will include material that any viewer can easily understand to be a real person, place, scene or event. The company said that when implemented, the video will be labeled as tampered or synthetic media. However, creators will not be required to provide such information on completely unrealistic content, animated videos, videos with special effects on the platform.

YouTube said that we recognize that creators use generative AI in a variety of ways when creating content. Creators will not be required to disclose if generative AI has been used to generate scripts, content ideas or captions. Additionally, YouTube will show a prominent label on the video for videos with sensitive topics like health, news, elections or financial.
