Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India – December 16, 2025 :  With GRAP Stage 4 restrictions in full force across Delhi-NCR due to severe air pollution, the Noida Transport Department has ramped up enforcement against polluting vehicles. Officials are closely monitoring around 125,000 restricted-category vehicles to ensure compliance and curb emissions.

Since December 1, authorities have issued challans to More The 225 vehicles found violating GRAP-4 rules, despite bans on their operation. These actions include fines and seizures, contributing to broader efforts to improve air quality.

Under GRAP Stage 4—triggered when AQI exceeds 450—all vehicles below BS-6 standards face strict bans, including BS-4 heavy goods vehicles. This targets high-emission sources responsible for significant particulate matter.

Exemptions apply to BS-6 compliant vehicles and those involved in essential/emergency services, per CAQM guidelines, though they undergo rigorous scrutiny.

Five specialized enforcement teams focus on Delhi-border areas with high incoming traffic, coordinating with traffic police for thorough checks.

In the current fiscal year (2025-26), the department has acted against 4,018 vehicles for lacking valid PUC certificates or GRAP violations, imposing fines totaling around ₹4.01 crore, with ₹1.49 crore recovered so far.

Officials vow continued strict vigilance until air quality improves, urging drivers to comply, maintain valid documents, and avoid restricted vehicles to support pollution control.

This intensified GRAP-4 enforcement in Noida highlights urgent measures amid hazardous AQI levels plaguing the region.
