Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar has officially confirmed the return of her popular character Sweety Gupta in the upcoming Mirzapur: The Film.
On January 10, 2026, Pilgaonkar shared photos on Instagram featuring the film’s clapperboard and group shots with the cast. Her caption read: “8 years later… guess who’s back from the dead? Mirzapur – The Film, shooting in progress.”
Sweety Gupta was killed off in the first season of the original Mirzapur series by Munna Tripathi, played by Divyendu Sharma. The development has generated significant excitement among fans.
While details remain limited, sources suggest Sweety’s appearance may involve flashbacks or narrative sequences rather than a revival in the main timeline.
Reports also indicate that Divyendu Sharma will reprise his role as Munna Tripathi, who met his end in season 2 of the series.
The film brings back core cast members including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Shweta Tripathi as Golu Gupta, and Rasika Duggal as Beena Tripathi.
New additions to the ensemble include Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, and Sonal Chauhan in key roles.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Film is currently under production and scheduled for a theatrical release in 2026.
