The higher education dream of talented students of financially weaker section has been materialized by Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the state. 32,185 students have been got admissions in educational institutions of the country and the state, thanks to this ambitious scheme. Now they will be able to fulfill their dreams of pursuing higher education, without worrying for money for fee.
More than 250 meritorious students have got benefit of the scheme by taking admissions in the prestigious institute like IIT, Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Indore, Banaras Hindu Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, Delhi University, 18 IITs, 14 NIITs, 10 National Law Institute and 14 other prestigious institutions.
It is noteworthy that in the last year, the average percentage of passing of eligible students for higher education is 46, of them 27 percent are dropped out. Most of the students did not get admission in higher education courses due to dearth of money. Madhya Pradesh Government has introduced Mukhyamantri Medhavi Yojana in the year 2017 to promote special ability and talent of all such meritorious students.
This scheme is for meritorious students of Madhya Pradesh domicile, whose parents annual income it up to Rs six lakh. They scored 75 percent marks or above in 12th examination of MP Board of Secondary Education or 85 percent marks or above in CBSC or ICSE.
The scheme has been implemented for the meritorious students getting admission into all engineering, medical, dental, Ayurvedic, law and all other undergraduate courses, who have taken admission in higher institutions of Madhya Pradesh and Government of India.
In the first phase of the scheme, more than 150 meritorious students of our state have got admissions in various medical colleges in the state. Similarly, 762 students of engineering colleges, 83 students of polytechnics and over 20, 000 students of higher education colleges have got benefit of this scheme. More than 20 students have taken admission in National Law Institutes. More than 17 students took admission in national institutes like IIM, Indore and School of Planning and Architecture.
