Devotional Fervor Across the Country

Mahashivratri, observed annually on the 14th night of the dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Phalguna, is marked by fasting, chanting of sacred mantras, and special night vigils known as jagran. Devotees offer milk, water, fruits, and bel leaves to Shiva Lingams while reciting prayers.

Religious centers, including prominent Shiva temples, have implemented crowd-management and security arrangements as attendance surged from early morning hours.

Spiritual Significance of Mahashivratri

The festival symbolizes spiritual awakening, self-discipline, and the triumph of inner consciousness over ignorance. According to Hindu tradition, Mahashivratri commemorates the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva and is considered especially auspicious for meditation and prayer.
