Kalank Chaturthi: How to avoid being stigmatized

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada. Along with this, it is believed that on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the moon should not be seen. That is why it is also called Kalank Chaturthi. It is believed that seeing the moon on this day brings some stigma. This time Ganesh Chaturthi and Kalank Chaturthi are being celebrated on different days as Chaturthi Tithi is two days. Kalank Chaturthi is also known as Chauth Chandra Parva. This time Kalank Chaturthi is being celebrated on 30th August.

According to the scriptures, it is believed that Ganesha was born at noon on the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada. Therefore, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the same day as Chaturthi falls in the afternoon. According to the Panchang, this year on August 30, Chaturthi Tithi is starting from 3:34 in the afternoon, which is on August 31, Chaturthi Tithi is till 3:23 in the afternoon. Therefore, establishing Ganesha on 31st August is considered auspicious.

On the other hand, if we talk about Kalank Chaturthi, then there will be no Chaturthi date on the night of 31st August. For this reason, on August 30, the festival of Chauth Chandra and Kalank Chaturthi will be celebrated. Moon sighting is prohibited on this day. One has to face some stigma by seeing the moon.

According to the legend, Chandra Dev laughed after seeing Ganapati’s bloated stomach and gajmukh. Ganesh ji did not like his behavior at all. In such a situation, Ganesh gave the moon god from day to evening that the beauty in which you are so proud of yourself will gradually decay and no one will see you. Due to this curse, the beauty of Moon Moon gradually diminished. After this Chandra Dev realized his mistake and apologized to Ganesha. Then Ganapati said that you can be full of your full arts only once in a month. For this reason, on the full moon day, the moon is full of all its arts. Along with this, whoever sees you during my worship will have to face false stigma. For this reason, it is believed that the moon should not be seen on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. PLC/GT
