Producers of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan have decided to withdraw their petition against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in the Madras High Court.

KVN Productions approached the court after the film did not receive its censor certificate, delaying its scheduled January 9, 2026, release. The production house has now informed the court registry of its intent to drop the case.

Advocate Vijayan Subramanyam, representing KVN Productions, submitted a letter confirming the decision. The makers have chosen to present the film to the CBFC’s revising committee instead of continuing litigation.

The matter is expected to appear before Justice P.T. Asha on February 10, 2026, for formal withdrawal approval.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is widely reported as Vijay’s final acting project before he focuses full-time on his political career. Fans have eagerly awaited the political drama, which was originally set for a worldwide theatrical release in January.
