Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Ex City BJP MP and a noted constitutional lawyer, has been nominated as a member of the 8 member high-powered BJP Election Reforms Committee, to study comprehensively the election related issues and to help the party to effectively formulate its stand on all subjects, including the effect of black money in the elections, criminalization of politics, efficacy of Electronic Voting Machines and reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures.
The Committee, constituted by BJP President Sh. Nitin Gadkari, will work under the overall guidance of top party leaders, especially BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman Sh. L K Advani, and will have Party Vice-President Sh. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, MP as its Convenor. The committee will also deliberate on issues like the delimitation of constituencies in terms of socio-economic factors & geography so that the party could take a practically feasible and politically correct stand on contentious issues confronting the biggest democracy of the world.
The committee would also study various reports available in the public domain, including the Administrative Reforms Commission, and interact with the concerned ministries of the Government of India and the States as well as with the Election Commission of India. It will also visit different states to get inputs from the state units, experts and interested public on all these issues.
Other members of the committee include BJP General Secretary Sh. Thawar Chand Gehlot, former MPs Sh. Kirit Somaiya and Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, noted psephologist G V L Narasimha Rao, former UP BJP Chief Ramapati Ram Tripathi and former IAS Officer Sh. Ramakrishna.
Giving this information to the media, Sh. Bal Krishan Kapoor, Spokesperson of BJP Chandigarh, said that all the workers of BJP Chandigarh are feeling honoured by the inclusion of Sh.
