Washington   : The US State Department released its report on human rights violations and it discusses Israel in 103 pages. There have been credible reports of more than a dozen types of human rights abuses, including killings, torture, arbitrary detention, conflict-related sexual violence or punishment, and imprisonment of family members for alleged crimes.

The report said that the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip is having a negative impact on the human rights situation. It cited credible reports of unlawful killings by both Hamas and the Israeli government. Blinken said the United States would continue to assess foreign countries’ records on human rights.

The report highlighted Israel’s concerns over human rights abuses in Gaza. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is raising troubling concerns for human rights. He condemned the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks, while urging Israel to minimize civilian casualties in its response.

Blinken said the US has made clear that Israel needs to follow international law and take every possible precaution to protect civilians. He stressed that the Department still remains concerned about civilian deaths in Gaza during the war. The US has also repeatedly raised concerns about humanitarian aid access, civilian displacement and deaths of journalists in Gaza, the report said.
