New Delhi : Union Minister Goyal emphasized the steel industry’s pivotal role in India’s economic future, urging leaders to adapt to the increasing demand for green steel by focusing on economies of scale and decarbonization. His recommendations include:

  1. Innovative Production: The industry should seek advanced methods to achieve low emissions while maintaining high productivity and quality to enhance India’s global competitiveness.
  2. Artificial Intelligence: Utilize AI to optimize production processes, minimize waste, and improve efficiency across the steel value chain.
  3. Indigenous Machinery: Integrate domestic machinery in steel production to support local manufacturing and innovation.

Shri Goyal highlighted that this decade is crucial for showcasing India’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and national pride through the “Made in India” steel. He also stressed the importance of creating a level playing field for domestic industries and indicated that the Government will address the Border Adjustment Tax issue to support sustainable manufacturing. The Government’s investments in infrastructure and capacity building are expected to benefit the industry in the long term.
