Indian-Made Rail Engines Ready for Export to Africa, Trials Successfully Completed

Indian Railways is set to begin exporting rail engines to Africa from its Madhoura plant, with the first batch of exports expected next year. This marks the first time engines from the Madhoura plant will be exported globally, showcasing India’s growing presence in the global railway industry.

The engines being manufactured at this plant belong to the 4,500 HP Evolution Series, known for their fuel efficiency and superior performance in high-temperature conditions, making them ideal for African environments.

Additionally, Indian Railways successfully conducted trials of its Kavach system, a safety mechanism designed to prevent train collisions and enhance operational safety. During trials between Sawai Madhopur and Sumerganj Mandi, trains equipped with Kavach were tested at speeds of 130 km/h. The system demonstrated its ability to control train speed and bring trains to a stop within 50 meters of the designated spot.

This innovative safety technology, inspected by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, is expected to greatly improve railway safety standards in India and potentially in other regions.
