Haryana Govt. started SIW in all the districts

Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Anil Vij has said that the State Government has started Special Immunization Week (SIW) in all the districts of Haryana except Mewat, Palwal and Panipat from 7th March to 13th March 2022. While the Mewat, Palwal and Panipat have been included in Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 under the Government of India’s program “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

He said that it has been observed that due to Covid-19 pandemic the immunization services have been affected. Therefore, with an objective to improve immunization coverage among 0-2 years, to cover all unvaccinated, drop out & left out children (0-2 years) and pregnant women and vaccinate children with booster doses of Diptheria & Tetanus booster (DPT-at 5 yrs), Tetanus and adult diphtheria  (Td) vaccine for the age of 10 & 16 years, SIW is being conducted  from 7th March 2022- 13th March 2022.

Till 10th March 2022 7405 sessions have been held in which 178012 children (0-2 years)  and 10438 pregnant women have been vaccinated. During these sessions 46285 children have been given DPT5 dose, 83807 children have been vaccinated for Td 10 and 64963  children have been given Td16, he added.

He said that Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0 is Flagship initiative of Govt. of India to increase Immunization coverage by vaccinating all unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children (up to 2 years) and pregnant women as per Routine Immunization schedule.

The impact of Mission Indradhanush in improving the immunization coverage across the districts over the years is acknowledged at the highest level.

Committed to improving immunization coverage GoI has now launched Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 in selected districts of India. 3 districts of Haryana (Mewat, Palwal and Panipat) are included for Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 in the State of Haryana under “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The IMI 4.0 aims to immunize unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children less than 2 years of age to reach >90% full immunization coverage and unvaccinated pregnant women.
Three rounds of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 are being conducted in districts Mewat, Palwal and Panipat. Each round will be conducted for seven days, including RI days, Sundays, and public holidays
Round 1 – 7th March 2022, Round 2 – 4th April   2022, Round 3-   2nd May 2022, he added.

He said that First round has started on 7th March 2022 and till 10th March 1573 sessions have ben held in which 17743 children (0-2 years) and 4622 pregnant women have  been vaccinated.
