Varanasi | April 7, 2025 – In a landmark decision aimed at reshaping the urban landscape of eastern Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has greenlit the development of a 400-acre ultra-modern township near the upcoming International Cricket Stadium in Ganjari, Varanasi.
The ambitious project is being spearheaded by the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA), which has begun the land acquisition process across three villages — Deeh Ganjari, Harpur, and Parampur.
🔍 Key Highlights:
✅ 400-acre mega township to be developed near Ganjari Stadium
✅ Land acquisition underway, farmers to get compensation as per circle rate
✅ List of cultivators being prepared to avoid legal disputes
✅ VDA’s crackdown on illegal land plotting begins
✅ Registry ban expected soon on targeted land parcels
✅ Township likely to include the proposed Sports City
🏗️ What’s in the Blueprint?
Sources in the VDA say that the new township will integrate:
Residential zones
Commercial complexes
Green corridors
Public amenities
Possibly the much-anticipated Sports City
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his recent Banaras visit, personally inspected the area near the Ganjari stadium and instructed VDA Vice President Pulkit Garg to execute the project on a war footing. With land around the stadium mostly vacant, development work is expected to move swiftly without rehabilitation delays.
🧾 Land Pricing & Compensation Plan
Land will be acquired based on circle rates from the Sub Registrar Office.
Farmers from the three targeted villages will receive full compensation, and their names and land numbers are being verified to avoid disputes.
A registry ban is expected on marked plots to prevent real estate speculation or illegal sale.
🚨 Illegal Plotting Under Scanner
With the announcement of the township, VDA’s enforcement wing is patrolling the area, cracking down on unauthorized land developments. “Anyone found illegally plotting land will face demolition,” said a senior VDA official.
🏟️ Why Ganjari?
The location near the International Cricket Stadium is being dubbed the future hub of Eastern UP. With express connectivity to Varanasi and nearby districts, this township is being projected as UP’s next real estate and sports powerhouse.
