Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan is set to introduce a disruptive new format to Indian television with her upcoming reality show The 50, which aims to move away from conventional reality TV structures.
According to reports dated January 3–5, 2026, the show is positioned as a strategic and psychological survival-based competition, marking a significant shift from long-running formats centered on fixed rules and predictable eliminations.
Show Concept and Format
The 50 is the Indian adaptation of the popular French reality show Les Cinquante. As the title suggests, the show will feature 50 celebrity contestants competing over 50 days.
Unlike traditional reality shows, The 50 will not follow a predefined rulebook. There will be no standard tasks or fixed elimination cycles. Instead, contestants will be tested on mental endurance, strategy, adaptability, and survival instincts.
A key element of the show is a mysterious masked figure known as “The Lion,” who will act as an unseen authority, placing contestants into unpredictable and high-pressure situations.
