Rotating Machines include AC and DC Motors of a wide range, and Alternators. Rotating Machines are the primary source of Power for Indian industry, Consumer appliances and Pumpsets used in Agriculture. It is estimated that Motors consume about 60% of all energy in India. Indian manufacturing of Rotating Machines started more than 100 years ago, and today includes hundreds of manufacturers, from large MNCs to small scale industries, accounting for over Rs. 6,300 crores turnover, and providing employment to an estimated 100,000 persons. Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), India’s nodal agency representing the manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipments in India today invited users and manufacturers of rotating machines; members of research, testing & academic institutions and professionals from the industry for the 8th edition of ELROMA 2012 to be held from April 19-20, 2012 in Mumbai, India. The Conference theme this year is “Energy saving & Green Manufacturing”
Commenting on ELROMA 2012, Mr. R. Krishnakumar, Chairman, R M Division and Organising committee for ELROMA 2012, said: “The rotating machines sector during this current fiscal had its ups and downs. While during the first quarter of the current year, renewed momentum in industrial sectors and power generation sector has seen pick-up in demand for both LT and HT motors by more than 10%; resulting in overall growth of 9.3% for Rotating Machines sector; the sectors’ growth declined in the 3rd quarter. ELROMA 2012 is being held at a crucial juncture, when the new emerging global standards of Energy efficiency will shape a new future. The twin themes, of Energy saving and Green manufacturing will bring focus ‘sustainability’ for both users and manufacturers of Rotating Machines. ELROMA 2012 will also provide a networking platform to deliberate on the latest technological developments in material and manufacturing technology”.
Commenting on the theme for ELROMA 2012, Mr. Ramesh Chandak, President, IEEMA, “Electrical rotating machines consume more than 60% of the energy used across Industries. There is a vast potential here to save energy, by designing, manufacturing, and promoting the sale of more and more energy efficient products, for new as well as existing installations. In addition to Energy saving, ELROMA 2012 will focus on green and sustainable manufacturing practices, to preserve India’s valuable environment, and also to adapt usage of new and alternate raw materials, both for conservation of energy as well as technology improvement”.
India is on an upward curve with its economy growing at a consistently fast pace of 8% p.a. and thereby holds great promise for the industrial growth and its related opportunities. The Indian electrical industry is growing at an AAGR of 10-12% in value terms every year and is well on its way to become the manufacturing and sourcing hub for the world. Keeping the growth potential in mind, the industry will also seek urgent attention from the Central Government at the highest level for conducive policy initiatives while entering into 12th plan so as to meet laid down targets of power generation capacity and related transmission & distribution capacity expansions.
Accordingly, the theme of ELROMA 2012 consciously seeks to look for answers to the big and evolving pictures of our future, and invites the best minds across the world to actively participate and contribute to make our world a better, cleaner, and more efficient place.
