New Delhi : The Maulana Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, the Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Fatehpuri Mosque, said that the Eid moon has not been seen in any part of the country including Delhi, hence the festival of Eid will be celebrated on Thursday 2024 April 11.
He said, no news of moon sighting has been received from any state including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan. Mukarram said Wednesday will be the 30th day of fasting and the first of Shawwal (the 10th month of the Islamic calendar) will be on Thursday. Eid falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal.
At the same time, former Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari said that there is no news of sighting of the moon of Shawwal i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr from any part of the country. He said, contacts were made in different parts of India – Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal and Bihar but the moon has not been seen anywhere. Bukhari said, “Eid will be celebrated on April 11.
On the other hand, Bharana-e-Sharia Hind, associated with the Muslim organization Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has also announced that the moon of Meethi Eid was not visible in any part of the country on Tuesday.
“It is confirmed that there is no news of moon sighting from any part of the country, hence Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on April 11,” the organization said in a statement.
