The Bollywood box office is witnessing a rare and historic phase as a late-2025 release continues to dominate theaters well into the New Year, leaving fresh releases struggling to gain traction.

Aditya Dhar’s high-octane spy thriller “Dhurandhar,” starring Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal, has emerged as the undisputed leader of the 2026 box office. The film’s sustained performance has rewritten long-standing industry benchmarks.

On its 29th day in theaters (Friday, January 2), Dhurandhar recorded its first single-digit daily earning of ₹8.75 crore, ending an unprecedented 28-day double-digit streak. Despite the marginal dip, the film showed renewed momentum on Saturday, January 3, collecting ₹6.25 crore by 7 PM alone, according to early trade estimates.

The film’s India net collection currently stands at approximately ₹754 crore, while its worldwide gross has crossed ₹1,162 crore. With this performance, Dhurandhar has officially surpassed the lifetime India net collection of RRR (₹772 crore), securing its position as the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film in history.

Internationally, the film has also delivered record-breaking results, overtaking the lifetime North American box office totals of major blockbusters such as Pathaan and Jawan (excluding China).

Trade analysts attribute the film’s extraordinary run to strong word-of-mouth, repeat viewership, and its appeal across domestic and overseas markets. As January 2026 unfolds, Dhurandhar continues to set a benchmark rarely seen in Indian cinema.
