Dense Fog Disrupts Delhi IGI Airport: Over 126 Flights Cancelled, Delays Persist Amid Low Visibility

New Delhi, India – December 16, 2025 : Dense fog continued to plague Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday, leading to the cancellation of over 126 flights (49 departures and 77 arrivals) and widespread delays, leaving passengers frustrated and stranded.

Operations are gradually recovering, but disruptions persist for some arrivals and departures due to poor visibility in northern India. The airport issued a fresh advisory urging travelers to contact their airlines for real-time updates and assuring ground staff assistance across terminals.

Major carriers like IndiGo and Air India bore the brunt, with IndiGo alone cancelling dozens of flights proactively to minimize inconvenience. Air India highlighted cascading network impacts from congestion and parking constraints, offering rebooking or full refunds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts persistent foggy conditions, especially mornings, exacerbating seasonal challenges. Yesterday saw even worse chaos with over 228 cancellations.

Passengers are advised to check flight status frequently, allow extra travel time, and monitor airline apps/websites amid ongoing Delhi airport fog disruptions.
