The Facebook page which openly exhorts and glorifies cow slaughter does not violate Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, as per their assessment. IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and his wife Nutan recently registered an FIR in Lucknow against this group. On the contrary, on a reported violation by Vijay M Lal, a Canada based Indian; the Facebook administration said that as per its Community Standards, they were not able to confirm that the specific page reported violates Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Taking exception to this view, the husband-wife duo have once again written to the Department of Electronics and IT, Government of India to ensure that grievance officers are appointed by Facebook in conformity with Rule 11 of the Information Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines) Rules 2011 so as to understand the cultural sensibilities of this country.
