Devshayani Ekadashi 2023 Date: Among all the Ekadashis of the year, Devshayani Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month is considered very important. According to belief, on this day Lord Vishnu, the protector of the world, goes into yoga sleep and the responsibility of running the universe falls on Mahadev.
Manglik works are banned for the next four months. Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month is known as Devshayani Ekadashi, which is on Thursday, 29th June this year. The beginning of Chaturmas has also been considered from this day. Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Harishayani Ekadashi, Ashadhi Ekadashi, Prabodhani and Padmanabha Ekadashi. Devshayani Ekadashi fast has been called the best among all fasts. By observing this fast, all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled and all the sins are destroyed. Lord Shri Hari is pleased by fasting and worshiping on this day.
Shri Vishnu resides in Patal Lok for a period of four months till Devuthani Ekadashi.
There is a detailed description of this subject in the Padma Purana, according to which, from this day, Lord Shri Vishnu resides in Patal Lok for a period of four months till Devuthani Ekadashi in the month of Kartik. Therefore, during this time any auspicious work, such as marriage, shaving, housewarming, starting a new business, etc. has been prohibited. However, this year due to the extra month in the month of Sawan, this time Sawan will be of two months and Chaturmas will be of five months.
Satvik life should be led in Chaturmas
According to Sanatani tradition, one should lead a virtuous life in Chaturmas and follow celibacy. Sages and saints do not travel during Chaturmas, but stay at one place and remain engrossed in the devotion of God. Worship of Shivji, Vishnu ji, Ganapati ji and Dev Durga is considered best in Chaturmas. It is a religious belief that the one who fasts on Devshayani Ekadashi does not have to go to hell, he attains Baikunth Dham after being freed from the tortures of Yamlok. According to Brahmavaivarta Purana, all wishes are fulfilled by observing this fast with devotion and faith.
Ekadashi remedy
On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, anointing Sri Hari with the juice of Amla gives relief from financial problems in life. Amla is considered the symbol of Lord Vishnu.
Also do special worship of Mahalakshmi. Keep fast for God. Recite Vishnu source. Chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya’.
Donate umbrella, shoes and slippers to the needy people as much as possible. Stay awake at night and break the fast the next day.
liturgy
On this day, take bath and meditate in the morning and wear clean clothes. Then do Jalabhishek of Lord Vishnu and meditate on him. Offer flowers, sandalwood, Akshat, Nevaidh to them. Make sure to use Tulsi in worship. Worship of Lord Vishnu is considered incomplete without offering Tulsi. In the end, perform the aarti of Lord Vishnu and also worship the Peepal tree. ( PLC/GT )
