Thug Life Box Office: Weak Start for Kamal-Mani Ratnam Comeback Film

INVC NEWS
Mumbai   — : Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated film Thug Life hit theatres with high expectations, but early numbers reveal a lukewarm response on its opening day. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao’s Bhool Chook Maaf continues to maintain decent figures in its second week, and Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning is still pulling audiences in its third week.

Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 1

Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, managed to earn ₹17 crore on its opening day. While the figure is decent, it falls short of the expectations set by the film’s pre-release buzz. The film, which reunites Haasan and Ratnam after 37 years post their cult hit Nayakan, was expected to make a thunderous start. Given its reported budget of ₹180-200 crore, trade analysts were anticipating a stronger debut at the box office.

Controversy surrounding Kamal Haasan’s recent statements had also fueled the film’s publicity. However, the opening numbers indicate that the buzz has not completely translated into ticket sales. The real test lies ahead over the weekend, where a substantial jump in collections could change the game for Thug Life.

Bhool Chook Maaf Day 14 Earnings

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s emotional drama Bhool Chook Maaf has now also released on OTT, but its theatrical run remains surprisingly stable. On Thursday, the film earned ₹1.65 crore on its 14th day. The movie grossed ₹44.1 crore in its first week and has now reached a total of ₹66.75 crore by the end of the second week.

Strong performances, good word-of-mouth, and emotional storytelling have helped Bhool Chook Maaf maintain momentum even after two weeks, and it may continue to perform well on digital platforms.

Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning 20 Days Collection

Tom Cruise’s action thriller Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning completed 20 days at the Indian box office and remains a favorite for action fans. On Thursday, the film earned ₹83 lakh, pushing its total Indian collection to ₹94.22 crore. The global numbers remain strong as the movie continues its successful theatrical run worldwide.

The box office scenario remains competitive as Indian and international releases fight for audience attention across theatres and OTT platforms. With the weekend approaching, all eyes are now on whether Thug Life can gain momentum and match the stature of its star-studded creators.
